Had a very (surprisingly) tasty tomato, mozzarella, red pepper, and olive on foccacia panino at local.grill, whose food is always edible, rarely great.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is... .ps - friends don't let friends eat farmed salmon.

Alright, it's been a pretty massive Easter weekend eat-fest.

Friday:

Lunch at Konditor:

Roast pork sandwich with carmelized onions and sauerkraut
Piece of Im Himmel cake

Dinner at my Aunt's place:

Frito misto (calamari, cuttlefish, red snapper)
Spaghetti with crab legs/red sauce
Insalata di frutta di mare
Shrimp with garlic and parsley, flambeed in brandy
Traditional Easter cookies (Pupa di Pasqua)
Tiramisu

Saturday breakfast at a greasy spoon across from my hotel in Barrie:

Steak and eggs (pretty bland, especially the "homefries")

Saturday dinner at my Mom's:

Stuffed roast pork loin
Prime rib
Grilled chicken
Roasted potatoes and sweet potatoes
Sauteed zucchini, eggplant, mushrooms, peppers, etc
Cherry cheesecake
Lemon sex-in-a-pan

Sunday finally back in Toronto:

Breakfast at Konditor:

Frittata with ham, swiss, scallions, tomatoes, peppers, and basil
Crepes - one raspberry, one apricot

Easter lunch/dinner at home:

Salad with various lettuce, fennel, dill, mint, pine nuts
Boneless leg of lamb marinated in red wine, olive oil, garlic, rosemary, peppercorns, and lavender - seared then roasted on the BBQ over indirect heat
Rosemary potatoes roasted in duck fat
Haricot verts, blanched, then sauteed in artisan butter
Dessert was an Easter cake from Konditor that had a mocha cake bottom, caramel mousse, tangerine mousse/glaze. It was very good.

Last night:

Leftover lamb and a mixed green salad.

Last night at Del Frisco's in Dallas:

Caesar salad
NY strip
Au Gratin potatoes

Watched a table next to us open $7K worth of juice from the outrageously priced list they have there. One of the bottles was an '82 Haut Brion. Didn't see the others.

I don't weigh myself, but maybe a pound or two, tops. It's gone now though, I'm sure. Not having a car and walking most places (+ public transit) helps in that regard.

making an antelope pot roast (in a sauce of stock, molasses, soy, raspberry balsamic, garlic, onion, peppers) - the fragrance is killing me. It's been cooking hours!
- gnocchi
- salad w/bleu cheeses
