In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is... .ps - friends don't let friends eat farmed salmon.

I returned the one I got for X-mas yesterday It seemed to work fine on a gas stove, but it was destined for use primarily on an electric range, and the pan (bottom) would just get so much hotter than the press (top) that I could not get an evenly cooked sandwich. I have a $100 gift card from Williams-Sonoma in its place now, and am debating getting an electric panini grill. Of course, I also have a double burner All-Clad grill pan, and am considering using that with a heavy brick as a substitute, and just turn the sandwich half way through the cooking. Decisions, decisions....

I can see how this would be difficult on an electric stove. I hate cooking on electric, once you go gas you get spoiled quickly.

I thought about getting one of these, but I have nesting cast iron skillets that I can work to make a panini if I want one (no prill marks though). We actually were gifted an electric panini press for Christmas, and we need to figure out where to take it back to. If you're interested, raybanz, PM me and you can have it for the current Amazon price.

Well TJ, as I am sure you know, Amazon sets different prices for different customers. At last check, Amazon was offering me "any electric Panini Grill in Stock" for $0.99. As such, I accept your offer
