| sangiovese is good, but i'd vote barbera with most standard, non-gourmet pizzas (pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions, etc.). Maybe a bit weird, but I also think some lighter cotes-du-rhone work well.

| Good one Raybanz, I did have a Barbera with a mushroom pizza a couple of weeks ago and that was a very nice match. Cotes-du-rhone sounds like one I may have to try as well.
By the way, welcome aboard

| Put me in the zin/sangiovese/beer column. But I do think t'll try pizza and champagne soon--I like the beer/pizza analogy. | | | |

| If the pizza is not to salty, then I have luck with a fruity merlot, or a prosecco, but beer is my first and overwhelming choice. | | | |

| My vote for pizza wine is deffinitely Nero d'Avola, especially if the pizza has a spicy tomato sauce or pepperoni or sausage.
Morgante Don Antonio and Regaliale Rosso del Conte are my two favorites, but the regular Morgante Nero d'Avola is great for under $15.

| ALWAYS have beer with my pizza. My local pizza joint is a brew pub with fantastic beer. With bruschetta at home - Zinfandel or Sangiovese. | | | In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is

| I prefer beer too, which is why I asked - we're going to a friend's house for pizza and they asked us to bring wine. | | | |

| A couple wines I really enjoyed with pizza lately is a Chateau Montelena St. Vincent and a David Arthur Merritagio. | | | |
