We're going to a nice restaurant tonight and I thpought I'd open the '03 MP Shiraz. Hot and disjointed are great terms for this wine. I dumped them both down the drain. I'm not going to ruin the dinner with 82 point wine. I'm glad I didn't buy any more. They're in a store near me, so I wanted to give it a try.

Had the shiraz tonight. I had to try it after liking the '02 so much.

After opening the bottle, I could smellthe heat even before I poured it. In the glass I got sweet cadied black fruit, oak, and more heat on the nose. On the pallet pretty much the same but not as much sweetness as the nose would leave you to believe. It just left me with the impression of a very disjointed wine.

Yeah. That's why I dumped it. I hate to waste wine, but I had to drink mediocre wine with a good meal. Compared to the two previous vintages, this wine was bad.

I have to admit that I've never been all that impressed with any of the "MP" name bottlings. I've always found the wine to be very disjointed, and not to my personal liking. I've still got one of the '01 #9's, but I'm not really even all that excited about it anymore.

Having said that, I do like the '01 Shirvington and I do think I had an '02 Sarah's that had been decanted for some time that I *somewhat* enjoyed.

anthony, based on the '03s I've tried, avoid them like the plague.
