| I've got a single bottle of this, and I'm going to wait at least 5-8 years before I open it. As stated above, is this not shutting down by now? | | | |

| 2000 Domaine du Pégaü Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée (90 WIML) (A-)
Tasted at an offline with the DAWGS. Brief comments only.
A very nice CdP. Mild spices on the nose accompanied by some violets, leather, cherry, smoke and roasted meat. This is a big CdP when it hits the palate. Huge tannins, sweet cherries and a mild earthy finish. Well balanced across the boards with the possible exception of those big tannins. Hopefully they will come in line with a little more cellar time. I’m going a little out on a limb here and tell you this will be a pretty long-lived wine. Probably another 10 years easy. I need to buy some for the cellar. | | | Joe-----Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone. | |

| Enjoyed last night with Pyang, Winebrat, Chico, and friends. Wide open and delicious. Olives, hung game, dark fruits, very pretty oak, lived up to its huge hype which really surprised me. Absolutely excellent. 94+. | | | |

| Sounds like this is drinking pretty well right now. May have to pull one out to see how it is doing. | | | |

| Basically, the smell a garage takes on when there is deer, elk, or moose hung in it. It's a little less sterile than a meat locker and wild game is ususally a little stronger in smell than beef. As off the wall a descriptor that may seem to some, it is a very specific scent to me. | | | |

| I can see what you're saying, but don't be offended if I don't adopt "hung game" as part of my wine lexicon. | | | |

| Hung game is an aroma you have to smell to really know the precise meaning of it. I understand Stealthman exactly what you are referring to. | | | |

| Hung game is actually an obscure reference to a competition where people try to sing "She Bangs" as badly as possible. | | | |

| I would go with the 2000. The 2001 will probably have a much longer development period. | | | |

| Went with the 2000 tonight. I think these may be shutting down a bit. Still a very good wine, but not quite up to previous bottles. | | | |

| Dark reddish black color but it does exhibt an amber element when it catches the light. Big. Tannic. Nose closed but on the tongue exhibits flavors of grilled meat, tar, and black pepper. Hot, slightly bitter after taste. Recommended, but it needs a lot more time. | | Randy Sloan Match Vineyards | |
