I hope you are right. I won't touch my other one for at least 4-5 years.

This is probably not the Quilceda for the ages as were subsequent vintages. But very good especially if you were to decant it for a while before drinking. We took this to a restaurant with just a splash decant.

This wine seemed further along than the blueberry bonanza it was in the past. The flavors are more in the kirsch/raspberry range along with a tiny streak of minerals. It still has upside but not long term (10 years+) IMHO. I'm going to schedule them every six months since we have quite a few left. Tasty. (92 pts.)

The fact that there was some left in the decanter is all you need to know.  Proving that there are good wines and good bottles and then there are good wines and lesser bottles.  It wasn't bad but definitely wasn't better than good.

I had two lots of this wine but didn't mark them so that might be one explanation.  One lot was directly from the winery and the other through a retail outlet/distributor.

Not much to add other than last night's bottle had a very hot streak in it that detracted from the rest of the wine. Disjointed in a way that previous bottles were not. [Decanted 30 minutes and needed it; 14.9% alcohol] (90 pts.)

I think you are being nice, how does a disjointed wine with a hot streak get 90pts. ;)

Nah, I'm not that nice.  It did taste pretty good minus the alcohol.

My husband's first comment was "whoa, that has some burn".

Hmm, an entirely different experience last night from a mag. We all LOVED it! Right next to me were the Jazins, Jimmy & friends, & Ojeffsos. And, we all loved it, a great wine. And, I go with WA's 93+. The wine was great last night, impressive bottle of wine. Actually, the mag was not decanted @ all & it was more approachable than I expected. A great showing last night.

That is good to hear. I was wondering about the mags of this wine. Wish we could have joined you guys. I'm bummed we had to cancel our trip.
