"I finally had to admit to myself that the secondary market has priced some of my absolute favorite wines of all time so high that I can't in good faith drink them anymore."

I've sold some bottles lately just because of that. However I have a hard time selling any of my Bordeaux.

I have been buying more QPR (although that means different $ for different people) than I have in the past. I buy more magnums. Mailers are probably cut in half.

Dan, I totally agree. I no longer buy Harlan for the same reasons. I have several bottles of 1989 Haut Brion that I will never be able to drink, unless I hit it really really big.

I learned, in a very personal sense, that the relationship between price and quality is shaky at best. I've had some $12 wines that were excellent. At the moment I have a bottle of Rhys that I need to pour out.

Cabernet still rules. But Syrah is close behind for me.

I also no longer have much interest in large wine events. They can be fun, but I've had some bad experiences as well.

I still want to grow up to be Bob Bressler.
