Hey Winetex, how much was the 2004 Northstar going for in your neck o' the woods? Last Friday I noticed it had been discounted and featured up here at one of the better stores...

Vine, the Northstar was balanced, medium weight for Merlot, and balanced. It was a good ringer for a superTuscan. It was not a power wine and had a lot similarities in flavor to a Sangiovese. No overt oak so more like a medium-weight Chianti than a Brunello. We were pleased with the purchase. Around $30 and it's a winner. Not an inky black fruit bomb by any means.
