Is this list closed? If so, what kind of wait is there?

MT, did you find this wine closed at all? Jones recommended not opening this for a year or so as it usually shuts down 4 yrs past vintage date. I'm dyin' to try one though.

I'd hold it to 2007 actually before trying one.

That's not the answer I wanted to hear, Jones.

"Steak Night" at Casa WIML. I'm planning on opening this wine along with a 2000 Bressler and a 2000 Sherwin for the local winos when they show up. We'll be grillin and chillin next to the pool.

Sounds like a fun time and an interesting comparison of 2000 Napa Cabs. Please post how the Jones does for you.

All this talk about the 2000 makes me want to open a half bottle and see how it is doing.

That's a good question. I don't remember tasting the 2000 from a mag and if I did it would have been last Summer so this is an educated guess on my part. I would say you could drink the magnum now for the next few months (a calculated risk) or wait until 2010-13.

There's really no way to ask this without creating some awkward pun, so I'll just go ahead and suffer the consequences.

Would you also recommend holdingThe Sisters , or is it more approachable than the Estate.

JimmyV - how long have you been waiting to ask that question?

The 2000 The Sisters is really designed to be drunk reasonably soon after release and before dipping into the Estate. It has a fair amount of Franc and that aids its early accessibility. The 2000 The Sisters is perfectly accessible at present although an hour in the decanter substantially improves one's enjoyment of the wine now. The 2001 is a much bigger wine (IIRC the alcohol level of the 01 The Sisters is pushing 16%) than the 2000 and will reward some cellaring.

JB,

I did not find the 2000 closed or dumb in any way. Young, tannic and a bit of a bruiser, yes. I am confident this wine will evolve and gain some complexity as it matures.

I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to future bottles. I'll let JW1 call the drinking window after he tastes again.

AlexAllen: I believe that the list is closed but the wait may not be very long (ie Eagle, SQN). I recommend buying this wine, well worth the money, small production.

email@joneswine.com - ask them to add you info on the waiting list.
