This is my only saved search in wine-searcher pro. I would love to buy more of this wine.

It would take a Kracher(insert many german words).............#`10 before I'd let go of a Drinkward Peschon.

Sorry dude. The DP is not leaving my cellar until time to drink it. I bought VERY little this year because of cash flow issues.

When is that time? I have a few myself to drink when the time is right.

I'm guessing the optimum window for that wine will be in the 2006-2012 range. I'll probably pop my first bottle in 2008 myself.

I'm sure glad to have 5 more of these as well...and wish I had more. Though we enjoyed this so much now, if you have a few it is definitely worth opening one now.

Well done!

Just signed up for the mailing list and was told the winery was sold out as of June 2nd... so nothing there.

  • 2002 Drinkward Peschon Cabernet Sauvignon Entre Deux Mères - USA, California, Napa Valley (9/18/2005)
I know I should have let a few more months pass since the last tasting, but this is good stuff. Initially did not decant, and actually had many shiraz-syrah-like characteristics, with strong minerality and graphite. Decanting about 45 mins after initial opening allowed the wine to soften considerably over the following 3 hr. drinking time. Fruit, chocolate and red licorice. Alcohol very evident early on, softened though still noticeable as the evening progressed. (93 pts.)

TryTwenty Twenty Wines in West LA on Cotner. Last time I was in there they had a decent supply of '02 Drinkward Peschon and '02 Stewart at reasonable prices (call or go in; not everything in stock is listed on the web site); I bought a bottle of each to try in a three-way taste-off against '02 Hoopes. FYI we liked all three for the price range ($45 for the Stewart, $60 for Hoopes, the DP in between $50-55); the Stewart edged out the DP, with Hoopes bringing up the rear. Both the Stewart and DP I'd happily drink again.

Did you call? 20-20's web site isn't always up to date. They had over a case a couple weeks ago. Someone must have found the stash. I also saw some DP not too long ago at Lazy Acres in Santa Barbara. Really nice selection for a market and they'll ship. Bob Wesley the wine manager seems like a good guy.

Check winebid or winesearcher periodically. D-P comes up every few weeks, and I've used winebid to replenish my 2001's when I couldn't keep my hands off them for the price.
