Thanks for the feedback. I'm a gadget geek so I ordered one today.

As a head's up, this was posted on Engadget -
A new Kindle so soon? How about 2 new Kindles? Crazy as it may seem, we could see just that by the end of the year or early 2009. A “trusted insider” has revealed that Amazon is preparing the next generation of the E-Book reader to be launched sometime this fall, in preparation for the holiday shopping season. As most rumors go, there isn’t any specific word on a drop date, but we could possibly see the first of two new models hit Amazon’s virtual shelves as early as October, with the second one following shortly after, showing up no later than the beginning of 2009. The first new Kindle will reportedly be a revolutionary leap above the current model, retaining the current screen size but an adding an extra style and functionality. The second new model should be styled after a single 8 1/2″ x 11″ sheet of paper and will be noticeably larger than the current model. Both of these bad boys are rumored to be available in multiple colors for an as-yet-to-be-decided price. If Amazon manages to keep these things in stock this time around, we might see a bit of a Kindle takeover by the time the holidays roll around.

I hope that they don't detract from it being a great book reader just to add other infrequently used capabilities.

I was thinking about this - a killer app for the future on this may be the migration of a bunch of text books for college students? Imagine having to only carry this to class instead of the 30lbs of books that almost broke my back on a daily basis...
