Saw the touring company earlier this month. Loved it!!! The woman who played Tracy was better than Marissa Jaret Whatshername, IMO. I didn't care for the fellow who played Edna though. But the costumes, the music, and the choreography were great!

My wife pursuaded me to go see three Sondheim musicals 2 years ago, when they were having the Sondheim revival here at the Kennedy Center in DC. Saw Sweeney Todd, A Little Night Music and Company. It was great watching the PBS special and seeing the historical context of these musicals and what they meant to the genre.

Anyone out there have a good source for Broadway show tickets? My wife and I want to go see "Wicked" and "Avenue Q" this December and they appear all sold out.

jaime:

i think you're going the week after Christmas correct? just go to ticketmaster, type in wicked, move to december, and there are tickets available sun-thurs of that week. that's how i bought fiddler on the roof. you pay a convenience fee but it may be better than waiting til december and going to the box office to save the fee. looks like orchestra, mezz are available. you can spend alot or a little from what i can tell. (the day i chose looks sold out, sorry, but others looked available, the bad part about the site is you have to go thru hoops to actually see what's available.)

Frankie, I've already checked those dates, and it looks like nothing is available. Hmm... my wife says there's a lottery on the days that we're gonna try to go to, but I imaginer there will be a lot of other folks with the same idea.

Wow, never noticed this thread before. It made me want to dig up some music. I grew up on this stuff.

For five points... "I go for Valentine, 'cuz on the Morning Line..."

Tonight we're going to Sarah Brightman at the Oakland Colliseum.

jaimetown: if that's the case, your ONLY option is to get there an hour or so before the show & hope for cancellations. If there were cancellations, they sell those tickets @ the door.

BUT, expect to wait in line. You will not be the only 1 looking to do the same...

sorry jaime, that's a bummer.

lcc, isn't there ticket brokers for these that aren't exorbitant in cost?

you could always get tickets to a bulls game when MJ was around, you just had to pay for it.

Actually, it's "I'm PICKING Valentine..." Fugue for Tinhorns from Guys & Dolls. Do I get the 5 points?

Actually, in the B-way cast recording, he slightly varies the line throughout the song. We're both right.

You get the 5 points. First one to 1,000,000 points wins a bottle of wine.

Went to see Fiddler On The Roof yesterday. The show is great: many laughs, a few touching moments, great songs. The cast did a wonderful job. Harvey Fierstein's performance was great. BUT, his voice leaves a lot to be desired. Basically, he cannot sing/hold a single note. He has no business singing @ all. That took a little away from the show. Besides his voice (or lack of), the show is great.

Maybe they should have asked Ashlee Simpson to lipsync his songs for him!

I just can't picture Harvey Fierstein as Tevye. I would expect to hear him say, "I just wanna be loved, is that so wrong?"

As a side note...the Mrs. and I will be attending the National Tour of Deaf West's production of BIG RIVER on Tuesday, which is one of my all time favorite shows!

Last week WICKED & Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf (w/Kathleen Turner & Bill Irwin)

Wicked was wickedly fabulous. Virginia Woolf was fabulously wicked.

Hi Randy --- (congrats on your release, BTW, we need to get crackin') -- went Wednesday night, third row, center, what a cast, what scenery, and the costumes....the monkeys were overhead.
It was astounding. All of it. I wish we were, in a way, back a bit so we could have seen it from afar. Was a screaming herd of teens at your show?

This is the next Rocky Horror. With very, very good reason.

I can't listen to that much Wagner. I start getting the urge to conquer Poland.
