| Does anybody know the difference of Zwicker and Edelzwicker in Alsatian bottle?
I know that both are blends, but is it a same thing? Can You or do You have to use noble grapes?

| Lauri,
My understanding is that Zwicker can be a blend of any of the local grapes, while Edelzwicker can ONLY have noble grapes, which are defined locally as Riesling, Gewurz., Muscat and Pinot Gris (locally known as Tokay d'Alsace). | | Cheers, y'all

| Terve Lauri,
Stemor is right. I wold only add that Zwicker has almost enitirely disappeared, you're far more likely to find Edelzwicker today. (Which I believe also can be labeled Gentil in French.)
I'll try to look this one up, though.
Cheers, Markus | | | |
