| 2002 Yalumba "The Signature" Cabernet/Shiraz blend Uncorked and left in the cellar for a few hours. Went back down into the cellar and was greeted by wonderful, cellar-filling aromatics from this wine...salivated too much to notice the color and poured...amazing nose...toasty cedar, coconut, fruit, and floral scented incense wafted from the glass. Medium to full bodied, this wine seems highly extracted yet has deceiving structure and elegance. Blackberry, boysenberry, plums, vanilla bean plus hints of anise and thai basil on the palate. Notes of expresso were evident as this wine evolved in the glass. Big, smooth tannins still present. Soaring finish. Just a fabulous Aussie, wish I had another in the cellar, would love to see where this is in 2+ years... Vine 95. |
