| | Not dead, LOL!...but a little closed. Nearly opaque dark purple. Still a very dense wine with gobs of fruit, doesn't show the complexity it showed the first two years after release, it's beautiful smokey oak is receeding, but still shows its superb balance and has a beautiful long finish. I finally found some morels locally and this was the icing on the ribeye with morels cake. I've rated this wine 95 several times, but tonight 93 is about right. Still an excellent wine. Both bottles drank in 2003 have been tight. | | | |

| The 1997 reserve wines were aged in the room that was contaminated with TCA for a shorter period of time than the '98s or '99s. I have drank close to a case of Georges and close to two cases of Tapestry from the '97 vintage and have not had a cxxxed (I ain't jinxin' myself  ) bottle yet. | | | |

Rich and firm on the nose. Some sweet fruit flavors, but also seemed to display quite a bit of VA. No apparent TCA. Drink.(90 pts.)

| Ive had two people tell me that they noticed obvious VA and lack of tannin structure in this wine within the last few months, so I decided to pop my single remaining bottle tonight to see what I thought of it............and
Wow, this was damn good. Amazing nose that literally flooded the room when first poured. It was almost as if you could see the bouquet flowing over the rim of the glass. Powerful aromas of cherry, blackberry, cedar, plum, and a very slight hint of olive oil and cinnamon( which I really like ). Really velvety mouthfeel. Color is opaque purple with just the tiniest hint of garnet at the edge. Lots of sweet fruit with a decisive earthy component. Black cherry, plum, cassis, with hints of vanillin and cedar. Midpalate is very strong, but silky and enticing, leading me to believe that this wine still has another 8-10 years of fine showing. The finish is long ( 40+ seconds ) and pleasantly woody and earthy. This wine was just excellent, and I might even enjoy it even more in 5-6 years when it sheds a little more fruit and tannin. At this point, there is not any sediment in the bottle as all. Easy rating. 93 points | | | |

I suspect it was corked - it had little to no fuit and was just flat and over the hill...couln't drink it...i have 2 more bottles so perhaps I'll open one soon and see if its the same or more as you experienced.
