| I hope everyone had a chance to watch the Men's 4X100 relay from last night. What a race!! A new world record by over 4 seconds. The fact that the top 5 teams broke the world record is pretty amazing in a sport decided by miliseconds. Weber-Gale and Lezak's swims were amazing. And it was textbook about why talking trash before athletic events can get you in trouble (the French...).
Garrett Weber-Gale and Michael Phelps celebrate below. Go USA!

| You might have to install a plug-in for this but it's quick. The video quality is good.

| Caught a little bit of the men's volleyball yesterday......they were playing in what looked like a near torrential downpour........can't believe they had to play through that!!!
And Winetex, the men's 4x100 relay was awesome! We always try to catch the swimming events.

| | My wife and I got up on the last leg of the relay and were jumping up and down, cheering Lezak on. Definitely an awesome race! | | | |

| I woke the house up last night :-D Had to hook the laptop up to the home receiver so everyone could watch it this AM. Just fan-freakin-tastic!!!
For those of you that followed the 1971 Bordeaux thread, I sent an email off to my buddy and asked if he could confirm that the correct translation for Alaine's comments was really "going to lose by a fingertip" instead of "smashed!"

| | I thought Phelps' suit was going to fall off as he celebrated. I did not notice this in the real time broadcast but did in the replay. One great swim. | | I've learned that wherever I go, the world's worst drivers have followed me there. | |

| Erica and I were up late watching that race too. The French had a seemingly insurmountable lead going into that last leg. Then at the turn Jason Lezak turned on the outboard motors! He made up about 1/2 body length on an "unbeatable" Alain Bernard. Un-freakin'-believable!! I actually got out of a supine position on the couch to watch sitting up but my wife was standing on the coffee table screaming at the TV! The best relay ever...

Right? Ever since BALCO you really have to take the results with a grain of salt......I'm still upset about Marion Jones............she was so much fun to watch and root for..........knowing that it's a sham really sullies the entire sport.......same with cycling.........and baseball.......... Maybe they should have a performance enhanced Olympics???? (kidding!)
