• 2005 Crocker & Starr Cabernet Franc - USA, California, Napa Valley (2/18/2008)
  This only arrived from the winery 4 days ago. Decanted, then consumed over 3.5 hours. First sample before decanting was extremely tight. Nice black fruits, but way too tannic and wound-up, with an alcoholic burn. Decant helped the alcohol burn off after about 45 minutes, black fruits remained, wine became a bit more watery and seemed disjointed. Would like to see more than its present fleeting finish, but very enjoyable nonetheless. Young and backward, I suspect this will improve as it comes together. (91 pts.)
