Tasted at 01/06 Tampa offline.
Big, explosive, obvious wine. All classic Cali cab on the nose, to a palate of french toast with hints of licorice and black fruits. Vied for WOTN, but got lost in the all really heavy hitters. Perfect pairing for the tenderloin, however. I think this will still improve. 94 pts.

I had this wine before and you summed it up well.

I agree…have had on several occasions and have never been disappointed. The aroma of ripe fruit just leaps from the glass. Have a mag and 3 750’s left. Will consume over the next 3 years as it was singing the last time I had it 6 months ago.

Agree with all above. I've had this wine a few times now over the years. It is always from great to the WOW level. Last night 93+, & I would continue to hold. It kept improving throughout the night. Decanted about an hour or so. A great bottle of wine every time.
Rating: 93+, hold. Parker rated it 96. I've had bottles of this that reached that level.

I have been typically happy with Etude over the years, including the 1997. I still have about 4 bottles left of the 96. Need to crack another one soon.

Doc,
The '96 Etude is drinking VERY well right now! I only have one left and I give it the eye every time I want a cab. I'm suffering from last bottle syndrome!
