2002 Spec's Burgundy Tasting (L'Alliance Francaise, Houston, Texas): This wine is declassified Echezeaux hand-bottled from an extremely small producer. Dark ruby in color. It had cherry, cherry stone, mineral and earth on the nose which continued throughout the middle. The finish was aromatic and ended on a spicy note. Well-priced and a sleeper buy from this vintage.

This wine proves the point about tasting wines and buying wines you like to drink. Last night's bottle was another 90 point outing. It was a very enjoyable bottle with more earthy flavors than in the initial bottles. Really tasty village wine.

Somewhere between an 89 and 90. It doesn't have enough style and/or substance for a much higher rating. It is definitely village-level wine that should be consumed on the younger side. Decent value for the price and can be easily identified as a Burgundy. [~$44; Decanted 30 min; Ready to drink now] (89 pts.)
