Nice color, a medium-light translucent ruby, but not really orange, this had a bit of stink at first which blew off with about a half hour in the decanter.  On the nose this wine shows meaty notes almost remenisent of a N. Rhone, along with tar, roses, and a classic "sweet red fruit" profile.  Good structure on the palate, with still some tannins, great acidity, and enough fruit to keep this really interesting.  Not a "classic", but certainly a really nice bottle of wine. 90 points.
