| My one experience with Costco. I won't say it was bad but...
Last Monday I went on the CostCo internet site and order a half dozen 2001 Chateau d'Yquem. I've never ordered anything from CostCo before but with a price of $360 I couldn't resist at least trying. After all I thought it wouldn't work. Several other people on these boards were reporting they had tried to order without success. But lo and hehold the order went through without a hitch.
It was Thursday before I got a shipping notice it had been shipped UPS Ground. Thoughts of horror went through my mind about how it was stupid to ship something "perishable" by ground two days before Christmas. Unfortunately these thoughts would prove to be exactly what happened.
Received by UPS Thursday In transit Friday AND Saturday Closed Sunday Closed Monday Tuesday 7:00am Out for delivery Tuesday 6:45on Delivered
Is there any way it could have taken longer?
I did send an email to customer service not complaining but suggesting they take a look at their wine-shipping policies.
And what dummy would order something like this the week before Christmas?

| I ordered the '01 Yquem from the Costco website when it first appeared, and the 1/2 case I ordered arrived quickly in perfect condition. I didn't order just a couple of days before Christmas though.
I don't know this for a fact, but I will guess that Costco does not handle wine any differently than anything else that they ship from their website ordering. In other words, they get your order and they stick it in a box with the type of shipping that you selected at time of ordering. I can't imagine that that they would hold off on shipping because of weather or anything like that.

| David;
I picked up a bunch of splits at the Livermore Costco the week before Christmas - $179.95. Of course, when I checked it out, they were sure their scanner was broken!

| I had an interesting experience with Costco. I purchased a case of 2004 Silverado Cab for our christmas/new-years season. All the bottles were as expected, except the last bottle. The cork was missing. There was nothing there, except the foil holding the wine in. Obviously the wine was ruined.
So I went to take it back to the store, and of course I did not have my receipt. They gave me a no receipt refund, basically about 13 bucks on a 32 dollar bottle. Kinda pissed me off, but I will still purchase wine there becuase they are close to me and I like their prices, but I will be check the corks with my finger from now on!
