- 1998 Château La Conseillante - France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol (12/26/2007)
Initially upon opening, aromas of milk chocolate, dark fruits and tobacco and green pepper. The chocolate elements of the wine integrate nicely and the wine shows itself to be an elegant, medium-bodied wine in balance. There is good complexity here, but in an understated way. I also suspect this bottle was standing in the retailer's shelves for a while so it might not have the best provenance, but for dinner tonight it was very nice, though I admit I did expect a little more given the estate and the vintage.
