| Just a quick tn...
First off, very dark color, with a vibrant nose. Palate has high acidity, high tannin, high'ish alcohol showing, and is a most flavorful wine. Just a bit disjointed at the moment... this baby just needs time. If you'd like to try, decant 3 or more hours to let it come together. The acidity becomes more bearable though the tannins will still dry you out a bit. I think this wine has TONS of potential if it comes together in the long run....... Let this rest 3 or more years. Don't know where Parker got his .... 95 was it? Wow.
Rev rates it: 90, but with potential ... lots. Still such a little baby. | | If you drink wine, you get smarter....

| | Try the 2000 meanwhile. It's the most socksblowing Martinet to date, I believe... | | | |

| Rev, this is the '01 we are talking about, correct? Mudpuppy supplied the brethren with the '99, IIRC.

| The '99 was a RP 93, and every year since I think it's gone up a point... the 2000 was 94, and the 2001 (which I had) is supposed to be a 95.
RP rates on potential though... which this wine has.... just not a 95 in its current form.
I don't have any 2000 .... distributors don't have any left! | | If you drink wine, you get smarter....

| | Wait, now I am confused. Which vintage did we buy from MudPuppy? Wasn't it the 99? Where do you buy the 01 then? | | | |

| | IMO, Clos Martinet is not as appealing as Mogador or Dofi on release - it needs some time to show it's stuff. The 1996 was a beauty when we had it last year. I had a bottle of the 1999 earlier this year and found the wine quite tannic. | | | |

| we bought 6 of the 99, the first bottle was fantastic... elegant, polished- the second bottle was very good but totally different- more of a super-extracted aussie style wine. ...not sure what to make of it as far as holding/drinking our remaining 4 bottles. | | | |

| $55, Retail.
That's a great bottle of wine. With some decant time, it exploded. A terrific bottle of wine that I don't think Parker over rated all that much. Parker 95 points. I will go with 94+ this weekend. It is still young, but already impressive.
Rating: 94+, hold or decant.
