I was waiting for someone to give you any good advice, but since nobody answered, I'll give you my useless comments!

I don't see much hype here regarding Finca Dofí (as we see for Clos Mogador and other Priorats) and I never tried the 01, but I loved the 99 Dofí. I'm buying some 98s and 99s this week. They say 01 was a great year in Spain, and I would love to buy the 01 Dofí, but I won't because it's 2x the price of the 99 here and I don't think it will be 2x better. But if you get a fair price, I think it's really worth breaking wine probation.

Mars, that 1998 Dofi is fantastic - out of all the Dofis I have (1996, 1998 and 2000), it is far and away my favorite.

Tanzer gave the 2001 a 92 (same as the 1998), so I would be inclined to go for a few bottles. He gave the 2000 Dofi very high scores (92-95), but it has yet to live up to his score - Perhaps it will flesh out a little more in the future. The 2001 Les Terrasses is fantastic, so I imagine the Dofi is very fine as well.

Which reminds me, I should get some 2001 Dofi in the near future. DdB, we need to have a Priorat off-line sometime - I'll bring my Dofi vertical. Maybe we can have it in Sao Paolo or Rio?

Just tell me when, my friend, and I'll be there!

Imagine a fantastic Priorat off-line in a restaurant in front of Copacabana beach...

One of these days, Mars, one of these days. I'll do the Southern Hemisphere tour with Brazil and New Zealand/Australia on the itinerary!

You're on! But don't forget our previous committment to meet Gastro in the Canary Islands in 2005

You bring the Dofi vertical and I can supply either Vall Llach or Clos Mogador from at least 99-01. Rio or Sao Paolo - either would be grand site for a Priorat off-line

And thanks, both of you, for the input on the Dofi. I just might have to pick some up.

I had this at a grand event (it's taking me over one week to type down the 60+TNs) and it's every bit as good as the other Dofis I've tried (97,99,00), perhaps even more elegant. Approachable already in a way Mogador and Llach never really are at this stage, this shows textbook Dofi style and hit a-- by now proverbial-- 93 in the Gastrometer

I chatted with Mars recently (I have his email and lured him back to WD for a few posts about Copa America). Anyway, he's very busy and getting married! Congratulations to Marcel! He also mentioned he can't figure out how to log in over here since the switch over. FWIW.
