Tasted twice with consistant notes. Huge honey floral nose, with plenty of boytritis. Sumptuous, exquisite full body, with mouth coating honeysuckle. One of the most deftly balanced, elegant wines I've ever tasted. Finish is plenty long, but who can enjoy the finish when you just have to get more of this elixer in your mouth. Just walks away from the other very good '01 Sauternes. I don't know that this will last for 30 years as it is so delicate, but it is incredible now and to leave this for that long, unless you're one of the fortunate to have bought 12 cases of this, would be a crime. Might be the greatest Sauternes I have ever tasted, I literally couldn't sleep wednesday night thinking about this great wine, half scared that I would never taste it again. 98+ points.

I have always liked the Climens and the Lafaurie-Peyraguey Sauternes...

Also tasted twice with consistent notes (I would have gone back a 3rd time, but I fear I would have been recognized .

An absolutely stunning nose, amazing intensity showing apricot, honeysuckle, acacia flower, and deep intense aromas I am just unable to describe – the nose is so deep, intense, and pure that it seems endless. Absolute nectar, this shows purity on the palate, perfect balance, a stunning elegance, and an endless finish. A wine that should prove to be nearly immortal, 98 points.

BTW Stealth, technically this is a "Barsac", though I recognize they have the right to use the name Sauternes as well.

You are quite right Eric, I should have caught that one!!! It was great finally meeting you on Thursday, hope we get to do it again soon. Back to the Climens, this was one swift kick in the a$$ for not buying on futures, absolutely stupid. I thought about asking the lady from Climens for her hand in marriage, if she would just supply this wine till death do us part...

I was sooooo disappointed to get home from this tasting and discover I did not order this on futures as I thought I had. Lowest price I have seen is $172 per bottle . Of course, I suppose when you consider that is is up to the level of a Yquem that doesn't sound all that unreasonable...

I'd buy the '97 Yquem at that price. The Yquem is less.

Oh

Well maybe not. But then, you know me, I wouldn't buy the Climens crap anymore

Just don't have the Climens along side of an Yquem.

I think I got my 1997 Yquem's for $210 so that is not much more.

Word over on eBob is that this is the only 2001 Sauturnes to be award 100 points from RP. Really glad to have gotten some from Winex just under the wire

Missed out on the Climens but I did manage to get some of the Rieussec and Suduiraut.

I was sooooooo pissed to miss the Winex deal, I saw the email about an hour too late. Premier has it currently at $170/750 and I took my lumps. I hope I can find some 375s somewhere as I can't wait to have this again.

Tasted Sunday afternoon. Nice desert wine, it had, and I mean this in the best possible way, a lime-palmolive scent to it (no, it wasn't the glass). Again, this is going to sound strange, but I was reminded of the 2002 Aubert Ritchie Chardonnay in the laser-like fruit and hint of lime. Coconut plus typical Sauternes flavors. Lighter than I expected, but not necessarily in a bad way. Not cloyingly sweet. Long finish. This will probably get better and better for a long time, but it is not a WOW wine at all right now, although, as I said, quite nice. 92 (with room to improve).
