  A deep, dark red color. Lots of fruit and vanilla on the nose. Huge blackberry jam on the palette, though a bit tight even after being open an hour. Very good, still needs time in the bottle. I'll open the next one in 2006 or so. (90 pts.)

16% alcohol. Opened and served immediately. Dark purple color in the glass, slightly dusty looking throughout with visible sediment. Nose of smoke, black cherries, meat and a hint of camphor. Flavors of black currants, plums, berries and bitters on the finish. Medium acidity and tannins, medium to full body. Unfortunately the alcohol is completely out of whack in this wine so 3-4 points come off just for that. Drink or hold. Decant for sediment next time and give it just a tiny bit of air before serving.
