Tasted March 25, 2006 at a retail tasting. Opened and served immediately in a Riedel restaurant series Cabernet Sauvignon glass. Garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of black berries, smoke and pepper. Flavors of red berries, cherries and a dash of raspberry. Value is acceptable. Drink over the short term. (87 pts.)

  • 2003 Philippe Melka Cabernet Sauvignon CJ - USA, California, Napa Valley
    WIML87,NOWA,NOWS,CT91

Tasted March 25, 2006 at a retail tasting. Opened and served immediately in a Riedel restaurant series Cabernet Sauvignon glass. Purple color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of kirsch, dried herbs, mocha and perhaps some boysenberry. Flavors of Bing cherry and raspberry dominate. Value is unacceptable. Drink over the short term. (87 pts.)

  • 2001 Darioush Caravan - USA, California, Napa Valley
    WIML85-86,NOWA,NOWS,CT88

Tasted March 25, 2006 at a retail tasting. Opened and served immediately in a Riedel restaurant series Cabernet Sauvignon glass. Dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of kirsch, fennel and potpourri. Flavors of raspberry and dark cherries. Came across a little hot to me but others didn’t note this. Value is unacceptable. Drink now. (85 pts.)

  • 2002 Cliff Lede Claret - USA, California, Napa Valley, Stags Leap District
    WIML87,NOWA,WS87,CT87

Tasted March 25, 2006 at a retail tasting. Opened and served immediately in a Riedel restaurant series Cabernet Sauvignon glass. Purple color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of crushed black currants, black cherries and white pepper. Flavors of red currants, licorice and a touch of earth. Value is unacceptable. Drink over the short term. (87 pts.)

  • 2003 Two Hands Shiraz - Cabernet Sauvignon The Lucky Country - Australia, South Australia, Barossa Valley
    WIMLNR,WA90,WS89,CT89

Tasted March 25, 2006 at a retail tasting. Opened and served immediately in a Riedel restaurant series Cabernet Sauvignon glass. Dark garnet to purple color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of dark chocolate, smoke and anise. Flavors of red cherries with a little blueberry. Acidity came across really low on this wine. It was almost “flat” tasting. No rating because this bottle was either off or it needs to be seriously docked some points for a very poor effort. No recommendation.
