| My new house has a few built-in wooden wine racks next to the cupboards. There's probably space for about 20 botltes (give or take).
Obviously being the wine geek I am, I'm not going to put any wine there (even my non-wino or cooking wine gets a place in the cool basement).
What can I do with this space short of ripping them out? Any ideas out there? Thanks in advance for your thoughts and experiences....

| Wine for near-term consumption should be fine.
You might also insuklate and wall it off and put an ice block in there periodiucally along with a thermometer to use it for extra storage.

Ditto. Immediate consumables going there should be fine.
Er, unless the stop is right next to the range/cooktop/oven, that is. | | www.roguefood.com -- www.cellartracker.com

| | I vote for wine also. I have a set of these racks in my bar and I put the short term drinkers in there. Right now it is filled with a bunch of the Christoffel Germans that are going to go fast in warmer weather. | | | |

| | Ok - so I'll use it for wine then. But then it becomes a problem to get the wine to cellar temp prior to drinking (it adds time if I have to put it in the fridge for 15-30 minutes). I guess that's not a bad thing if I open it then drop it in the fridge.... | | | |

| | Yes - because the rest of the kitchen (except the appliances) is in fanastic, updated shape. | | | |

| OK, so here is a heretical thought......
Maybe you could store your other adult beverage bottles there?
Sorry - there is no other worthy adult beverage..... momentary lapse....

| Make it your "Rack of Fame".
Store all of your "best" empty bottles there.

| I'd either hang christmas ball ornaments from them, or store wine.
I can't decide which. | | Randy Sloan Match Vineyards

| We have a similar rack in our kitchen and have our least expensive daily drinkers/cooking wine there.
I like David's suggestion regarding empties.
