Popped and poured. Very dark in glass, almost inky. Distinct, prominent aromas of blackberries, blueberries, smoked bacon, and hints of oak wafted out of the glass. Very concentrated, the fruit flavors envelop.......the essence of blackberry (blackberry liqueur?) with notions of minerals.......big wine, but not overpowering by any stretch. As per with many wines from WA, the tannins are so smooth and round. Well integrated for all the concentration. Some would find this too "modern" in style but I loved it. And although the palate is a bit one dimensional, the great aromas and fruit concentration point at an even brighter future for this wine.........maybe hold for another one or two years to see where it goes. Based upon my experience I would say the value of this sub-$20 bottle is apparent (I paid $17). Also, due to very fine sediment that coated my glass, decanting is definitely recommended (90 pts.)
