| Your definition is exactly what I have understood "backwards" to mean but I am confused when a reviewer uses this to describe a brand new vintage. Does this mean that the reviewer thinks it will take longer to age than other wines of the same vintage and origin?
Is Dunn an example of a "backward style" wine?  | | | |

| | Dunn is a backward style of wine relative to other California Cabernets. As such, in a blind tasting context, stating a Dunn wine is backward would provide material information. Stating it is backward in a non-blind tasting note would be at best superfluous since most tasters are aware of the historical tendencies of Dunn wines to take a long time to come around. | | | |
