| I know that I can sense 'off' bottles, you know -- cooked, corked, etc. But, I am not sure how one senses other things that could go wrong -- Brent Null's topic on corks someone suggested oxidization. And others have talked about madierazation.
Are there other terms, too?

| hazes, sediments, tartrate precipitation.....some people would consider all of these bottle defects, others wouldn't consider any of them to be.
refermentation in bottle is one I think everyone would agree on.
Spakerklers/Chamgagnes that lose their carbonation.....
I had a bottle of Hahn Meritage the other night which had a small piece of broken glass in it. I picked it out of my mouth thinking i got a barrel chunk.

| VV-- Ugh, glass? The last time I was worried about glass in my drink was when I broke the lip of a beer in college and I strained the beer by holding my finger at the top of the bottle while I poured it into a glass.

| Yeah I saw where it came from too. Right at the top of the bottle, just where the opening transitions from the top to where it starts going inside. I think when the cork was being insterted during bottling, it chinked that piece off.
