| 2002 Robert Mondavi Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley - USA, California, Napa Valley (1/14/2006)
Have gone through about 5 bottles of this wine now. All have been good, 87-89 pts. Tonights bottle is no exception. Stingy nose shows a bit of briary red berry fruit and earth. Creamy cassis, blueberry, currant and oak flavors are here, mostly toward the back end of the taste leading to a very pleasing finish. A solid effort that is true to the varietal and a good value. Drink or hold short.(88 pts.)

| Popped and poured. Medium Garnet. Anise, plum, misc. black fruits and a hint of cedar on the nose. Medium bodied. Nice Cab, showing well at present with many hallmarks of the 2002 vintage, plenty of ripe fruit and supple tannins although not much complexity. I enjoyed the minerality that this wine closed with. Tannins are completely integrated. Could probably go on to develop more secondary characteristics (though IMHO, why wait?). Vine 89 | | | |
