Had to have another Mondavi to compare with the '01 reserve.
2003 Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville
Opened for about 2 hours. Medium garnet. Black fruits, anise, and cedar on the nose. Medium body. More black fruits on the palate with additional nuances of loamy earth, oak, and even hints of brown sugar. Very nice upfront and mid but the finish fell off. Chunky tannins, much like other 2003's. Always fun to drink, if lacking a little in the complexity dept. I'll open my next sometime next year. This wine always scores somewhere in the low 90's for my taste.
