Last night was my groups (Capitol Cork Dorks) 11 monthly tasting and it was as educational as always. Our theme was The components of a Bordeaux blend, but in this case we only used California Meritages as examples of the final blends. We had the smallest group so far with 13 attendees, but this sure does make it easier when it comes time to talk about the wines and such. Below are a list of wines and in flight order along with MY wines of flight and wine of the night. My tasting notes will be placed in the appropriate tasting note forums when I have some extra time. Flight #1Close to 100% varietal ( not blind ) 1. ???? Argentinian Malbec 2. 99 Lang & Reed Cab. Franc res. (wine of flight) 3. 99 Murphy Goode Petite Verdot Flight #2 Close to 100% varietal ( not blind ) 4. 99 Paloma Merlot 5. 97 Phelps Merlot 6. 99 Lewis cab. res. 7. 96 Clark Claudon cab. (wine of flight) (wine of the night) Flight #3Blends ( not blind ) 8. 97 BV Tapestry 9. 97 Chateau St. Jean Cinq Cepages (wine of flight) 10. 99 Rudd Jericho Flight #4guess the varietal ( blind ) 11. 99 Justin Isoceles 12. 99 Plumpjack Merlot 13. 99 Neal cab. Thank you Sam and Jeff for supplying the wines. Next months tasting is Grenache around the world.
