| I know a lot of people use personal firewalls, and now more than ever it's very important! However, these programs can cause some problems with posting on this website.
If you are having some of these problems, please follow the link below. If you found something that works for you, please post it in this thread.
How to fix some browser problems.
More helpful hints can be found here.
The above link deals with Zone Alarm, and has more info on Norton Security Firewall issues. | | | If you drink wine, you get smarter.... |

| I am having problems with Norton's 2004 Firewall and have to turn it off to post here (and only here.) The suggested fix located here (the suggested fix) is for previous versions of Norton's and does not work for the 2004 version as the suggested process does not apply to the 04 version. Any (polite) suggestions please. | | | Cheers Ric
www.torbwine.com | |

| E-gad! Sounds like Symantec is at it again! Have you tried contacting them directly for support? I think the problem is still likely related to cookie-handling, either that or perhaps you need to create a list of 'safe' sites within your security settings for your brower. What browser are you using and what version and what OS and version? | | | www.roguefood.com -- www.cellartracker.com | |

| Also make sure that www.vinocellar.com is a "trusted site" within Norton. | | | If you drink wine, you get smarter.... | |

| My computer's fixed disk drand to much, got pissed and crashed! All the origional software was reloded onto the new disk and everything is exactly the same expect I added Nortons 2004 Internet Security. Using Windows XP and IE 6. I have changed this to a trusted site so we will now see if that works. And it didnt! I had to turn off Nortons to post this!! Any other ideas as its only this BB that gives an error message. cookies have been nuked too. | | | Cheers Ric
www.torbwine.com | |

| That is very aggravating. I am gonna check with a buddy of mine and see if he has upgraded to 2004 yet. If he has, I'll see what his experience is with accessing this site and posting. | | | www.roguefood.com -- www.cellartracker.com | |

Are you telling me the cheque is in the mail?
Yep, I sure did make it a trusted site but still have to turn off the firewall to post. | | | Cheers Ric
www.torbwine.com | |

| Only thing I can suggest then (because it's new software) is call their Tech support. Sorry I can't be of more help. I definitely value your input here and want you to be able to post!!!
I'll do some research on the Infopop side of things. | | | If you drink wine, you get smarter....

| Something that happens to me alot is after writing a post (like right now), when I hit "continue" instead of the "will return you..." page I get an "The page cannot be displayed" page. I have to backclick and then go all the way back to the main index to keep going. The post shows up just fine.
Is this just me; my problem? Or what?

| If you are using Internet Explorer then click Tools, Internet Options, Clear History, Remove all offline content. You'll have to login and save your password again afterwards but that message should go away. | | | Joe-----Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone. | |

| Sorry, I am sure it is not the place to ask that : but, what does it mean the red figures between braket besides the understandable figure "replies" ? And the gimmick in the first column ?
I have to travel inside your Board which looks quite interesting.

| fmauss... the number in red indicates how many unread posts there are for that particular topic.
The gimmick in the first column identifies threads as 'hot' depending on the number of times the thread has been read.

| I hate bloody computer software! There was a recent update to Zone Alarm Pro and now, even though I have VC listed a trusted site in the Privacy settings, when the firewall is on, I can't post. This is the only site where I have a problem, any ideas? | | | Cheers Ric
www.torbwine.com | |

| I'll research this a bit and see what I come up with. Torb, perhaps you can also see if Zone Alarm has anything to say about it?
Lastly, what browser and version are you using?
Thx, Brad | | | If you drink wine, you get smarter....
