| Totally sucks. I try to search for my posts. No luck
I try to find a wine that I know I posted about i.e., search for Brogan, a wine I know that I consumed in July and posted in What are you drinking. Do a search. I see that it is there. Click and it brings me to the first page of the What are you drinking topic, not anywhere near my post. Try to search within the Topic. No luck there either. Search my posts. Can't find by user. | | In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is...

| This is release whatever.something and we still don't have a reliable search function. I am 100% convinced this developer does not know how to code a search engine. It's beyond his skill set. | | | Joe-----Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone. | |

| Doesn't seem to matter what I search on, search returns absolutely zero results - none whatsoever. Brad, you should just tell the developer to build in the goggle search engine and be done with it... | | | 2008: the end of an error | |

| To follow up - I searched for 1990 Krug in the appropriate section.
It found a couple of Krug entries then the rest of the entries were 1990, no Krug at all.

| fwiw, the only way I've found to make this "search engine" come close to working is to pick 1 keyword to search for which will most likely find what I'm looking for yet at the same time narrow down the field of results an the sit there and scan through the list for what I want. For instance, while posting tasting notes yesterday I searched for "Rattlesnake" when looking for previous entries of the Turley Rattlesnakle Zinfandel. If I'd looked for Turley or Zinfandel I'd been there for a while. | | | Joe-----Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone. | |

| The problem there is that sometimes there is no unique word to search for. | | | |

| I generally can remember which Forum the post/thread was on. I just select the forum and page back a hundred pages or so and scan the titles on each page. It is a bit tedious, but still quicker and more accurate than "Search". Let's keep our priorities straight. Ads by Google is working great. | | | |

| I have to agree, search feature really makes no sense (please don't take offense Brad, but it's amazing it could get worse!)..........
And has anyone else noticed that when you search within a specific forum you now also get results from other forums???? At least that didn't happen before...........Dave, your way may be the best...........

| Search still sucks but I noticed if you don't get results from the first time click it again with the same query and results appear. | | | |

But hey, isn't it really cool that you can share this thread with Del.icio.us? | | | Joe-----Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone.

| Trying to do a search on 06 Neal Zin. Good luck. Enter 2006 Neal Zinfandel and get stuff about 2001 Neal Cabernet...? This is getting very frustrating. It's a good thing we all love each other so much that we want to stay in touch here because it IS becoming more difficult to use as a wine site. It's becoming a WHINE site.

| There needs to be an "advanced search" function that works where you specify 2006+neal+zinfandel and it ONLY brings up those results. See the Parker board search as an example. I can usually find wines with unique attributes but the worst type of search is as kpak describes where you can't exclude results. | | | |

| An error has occurred. Error: VinoCellar.com Wine Forums is currently unavailable.
I tried a search a few minutes ago and this is the response I received.
It was working last night and the forums are available

| Here's a fun one. Go to CA Red TN's. Notice there's a thread for 2004 Bressler Cab on the screen.
Then type in "Bressler" in the "search this forum" box.
2 results - a post on 2000 Bressler Cab and a 2001 Bressler Cab.
Was hoping to find a thread on 06 Pinot...

| FYI...search still sucks. Using the search in the upper right with the hourglass button next to it (i.e. not the Search at top next to Members) I couldn't find "2006 Peay" or "Peay" even though Winetex had a note right there listed first and I know for a fact Jason and I have one on the 2006 Peay Chardonnay as well. NOTE: normally I use this search and it'll give me hit. However, every so often, it'll completely flake out like this. | | | Joe-----Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone. | |
