I'll be making some updates to the site, testing tonight and hopefully implementing sometime this weekend.

Fixes planned include a more compatible "Full Reply" editor which should work much better with Firefox (no total screen refreshes when putting a smiley in the post) and also much better with Safari.

I'll also be updating the "main" site... i.e. the backend of software you don't see at all.  This will improve security and performance and stability, etc.etc.  no need to go into those updates.

I offer my advanced apologies for any downtime caused by this update, though any downtime should be minimal.    No information will be lost during the update.  I still monitor backups just about daily.

It doesn't have a "quote" button by default, but it does have the capability to add custom buttons, so it does look like I'll be able to do it. Once the updates are done, I'll try to work that update in there.

Had some issues crop up in testing. Will be pushing back the upgrade until those can be resolved. Hopefully just a few days.

Hi Bradley,

Cool site.  I am the webmaster at Vanguard University.  We are looking at Active Forums.  I am wondering if you still recommend it.Â

Good luck with the upgrade.

I certainly recommend it if you don't have a "budman" of your own. :-) I say that with love in my heart of course.....

Mark, feel free to send me a PM, and I'll give you the honest skinny on AF.

Mark, I am not Brad, but only consider it if you have no other options.  It has brought this site to its knees.

Wow, the "cute editor" software is really going to be nice I think.... stay tuned. It's installed, but not live on the site for you guys yet. Safari support is VASTLY improved, along with firefox, and the new spell check is awesome.

yeah for safari support. I have no desire to use a different browser just to post on this site. So far with Safari, I can't search, can't use the message or e-mail other users, can't post or reply without having to use html to make the post appear correctly. So those that are using a different browser, you have it easy!! I am about ready to give up and become a lurker.

The "default" editor for the entire site will be this new "cute editor" which will I pray solve your issues.

I see no changes or improvements on "search" which means that all of the institutional knowledge that used to exist on this site is for naught.  I am thrilled about the improvements to spell check though.  At any time I am at risk of misspelling a word so that will be one less thing for me to worry about.

Looks like I have the new "polls" working as well. Will put that in here soon once my testing is done, and I finish the editor.

Brad, Dave has a point about "search".

Is there anything that can be done with it? It is very feeble. One of the key things with search is to be able to specify the search parameters ie "posts in 2001" and once you have results be able to sort them.

Search just randomly pulls up posts in no particular order. Chronological results are key.

I'm concentrating on what I currently can do right away. Search is a bigger fish.
