| So I post the above post.
I return to "Forums" and it shows that there is a new post in the "Problems" (this) catagory.
I go to "Problems" and the "new post" is mine.
I click on the thread and it takes me to the first post.
Come on! | | | |

| Yes, that too Karen. I can live with that.
But... even just now I came back to answer your post and I got the first post again.
I mean it has been less than an hour since my last post in this thread.
My normal browser is Safari but Brad says I shouldn't use it for VC. It is not a big deal but I have to switch over to FireFox when I want to come here. I could switch permanently but at least at the moment I like Safari a lot better that FF.

| After reading your reply, and then going back to the thread list, I clicked on this one again and get the first thread and not the last...
I guess it figures I already read the reply, so don't need to again? | | In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is...

| Agreed. The old software was MUCH better (from a user point of view) than this!!! | | | |

| Agreed, partly... the old software could no longer handle the database size and kept crapping out and corrupting some database files. Restoring some files was a weekly event. So the old software might've been more mature feature wise, but wasn't reliable at all. Individual issues aside, the new software platform only dies when *I* do something stupid to make it die. | | | If you drink wine, you get smarter.... | |

| Brad, there are so many reasons why this software sucks. You've tried really hard to make it work but with with all of the problems it keeps people off of the site. See Davidn's problems as just one example. And the Search function (or dysfunction as the case may be), don't get me started on that. | | | |

| Could you make this forum a passive reference thingie and leave it up while we start a new one at zero posts? WTF! We started at ZERO way back when! Maybe have a "jump to" click on the new forum that would take you over to the old forum into the same catagory for reference (does that make sense?). Probably the only thing I would care about is still having the old tasting notes available. Is there something else that is that important? Where's PoolBoy? You love minutia . You could copy and paste all the old notes into the new forum . How much would new software cost? | | | |

| Ideally, when measuring features, support, large community of users, etc.etc... and also what you guys have seen before and liked....
$199 plus $99 every year thereafter, gives you unread post counts like before, and upgrades every time they release a new patch or update.
Besides what you used to have in the forums it'd also have: http://www.ubbcentral.com/features.php right off the bat, but an upgrade soon to be released is adding a ton more features as well.
Thankfully, it all runs on a much better backend database than the previous version did. MYSQL 5.x

| I see the site seems to have been reinfected with this problem. Today, every time I go to the same thread --- it is to the beginning | | | |

| After you post, or after someone else does? The developer is working on the next version right now.. so the more we can narrow down this issue, the better. Thanks. | | | If you drink wine, you get smarter.... | |

| After someone else does. Maybe you can get him to give you a release with some instrumentation in it? This happens enough that it would be easy to look at a bunch of flags when it happens. | | | |

| Two days ago when I started posting after a short break the Jump was not working 100% of the time. I was determined to stick around so I am just grinning and bearing it. This morning it worked for the first time on the first two or three posts but that was it. We're back to the norm of not working at the moment. | | | |

| Everyone having this issue, please verify this behavior if possible.....
DOES THIS PROBLEM OCCUR AFTER YOU CLICK "MARK ALL POSTS AS READ"
THEN AFTERWARDS, DOES IT START WORKING CORRECTLY UNTIL YOU CLICK "MARK ALL POSTS AS READ" AGAIN???
Think I'm onto something here.... | | | If you drink wine, you get smarter....
