There *might* still be a problem with the new post indicator so I've started a new topic to track it in case others encounter the same problem.

I noticed today while I was posting tasting notes to some sections of the board that once I posted the note and viewed the forum afterwards there were some threads marked as unread to me.  I know without a doubt before I entered the forum to post the note there wasn't an unread marker on that section.  On caveat...I did a search from the main forum listing against that section before adding a new post and when I left that section is when I noticed there were new posts for me to read.

When posting a new post yourself, it in my opinion, incorrectly states there is a new post in the forum... (though it was the one you just made). This has already been reported as an issue. Let me know what you find otherwise!

Yes, I've seen that. However, this particular case was me posting into and existing thread in a section and as I drilled back up from that thread I just happened to noticed there where other threads in that section marked as unread by me but prior to entering that section there was no new post indicator on that section. If I hadn't just happened to enter that section I would have never known there were new posts in that section.

This is definitely happening. I just posted a tasting note in the California White section. There was no new post indicator on that section before entering it. When I did enter it there was one thread marked unread...the 2006 Araujo Sauvignon Blanc thread that Randy started.

Joe,

The Araujo new post might have been from me. I posted to it, but then needed to edit it. I can't edit a post on my browser so I had to copy it, add in the other info, delete the original and then repost a whole new reply. So it probably would have popped up as a new posting twice. Hows that for convenience. ;) Just stubborn to get of safari just for vc.

Nope, it was Randy's last post in the thread. It was at least 20-30 minutes before you later answered his question.

Brad, I don't know if you picked up on my brief conversation with Winetex about this in the Drinking thread but she posted a tasting note to the Italian section and it never gave me a new post indicator on that section to let me know there were new posts. I gave it about 20 hours before I finally clicked in there on the remote chance it had something to do with caching or an index that needed to be built. It never popped up. I finally clicked into that forum this morning and sure enough there was Winetex' post she made highlighted as unread...along with 7 other threads that had news posts that I never knew were there.

Do you need this posted to the Feedback center?

FWIW, I just went into every section on the forum. Just about every one that I went into that I haven't been into this month had new posts in there with no new post indicator. If it matters every new post I wasn't notified about was dated between May 8, 2007 and May 24, 2007.

I've encountered the same problem.
