If the new system is "WYSIWYG", then why do so many posts, (mine included), keep popping up with algebra equations in them, such as: 1/4/P>; 1/4BR>; and 1/4/td>???Â

IDSTWITSWDISTITP?  (I Don't See Them When I Type So Why Do I See Them In The Post)?

What did you type in to get the characters in the post? There is most likely a problem with the filtering.... that turns : ) into etc...

Nothing. I never type symbols in my posts. Only English language words.  For example, in my original post to this thread, I typed 3 different math equations as examples, but a fourth one appeared for no reason at all. At least that is how it appears on my screen.

Do you not see them on yours?  Does anyone else have this problem?

Take a look at my post made at 5:51 yesterday in the "Just a little warning..." thread.  I typed a simple sentence that ended in a question mark. When I look at the post, I see the following at the end of the post: 1/4/td>.  When TJ copied my post and quoted it, I see different symbols in his. His post, quoting me, has the following at the end: 1/4/div>.  If nobody else sees this, then I will shut up and try to ignore it.

Mine looks good... as does the quote TJ made... but that doesn't mean there isn't a problem. What browser and version are you using?

I think I found one of the problems. Sometimews, but not admittedly all times, when I double-space in order to start a new paragraph, the lines show up as single spaced, and I see the following: ¼BR> Â

Don't know why.
Aha!  It just happened again. I double-spaced just before typing "Don't know why", and when I posted it, it came up as single spaced, with that obnoxious math equation again.

These "equations" will only show up when you want to edit a post that has been made in the "quick reply" area. When you re-enter the post it comes out okay.

(I think)

Sure does make it difficult to edit something. It is anything but WYSIWYG.

I think there are two things contributing. The editor is inserting special characters, at least for some people. Those characters display differently for different readers, depending on the browser and character set / character coding that is being used. The "math equation" stuff doesn't display for me, although I can see the special characters if I view the source.

Ok....  only in these two Vinocellar help forums I've changed the editor.  Let's see if it behaves any better with the special characters....

line 1 (enter)

line 2  (shift+Enter)
line 3

Testing.
Tried the Shift Enter

Tried Enter. Seems to work, although if possible, I would reverse them. Make the Shift Enter the one that double-spaces, as that is the one that would be used less often.  Love the preview capability.

Can't change the enter or the shift enter. It's a standard.... enter puts in the
<p>p>

for paragraphs.. and shift-enter puts in the
<br>

breaks....
