Well, imagine that... Vinocellar.com is up and running without a hitch for at least 6 months straight, perhaps longer... then I decide to go on vacation to the 4th Anniversary Vinocellar.com celebration weekend in Sonoma California, and the operating system decides to take a dump.... just about 12 hours into my 4 day vacation. Amazing!

Well, obviously we are back up, and after a small restore of a file or two all is well. No posts were lost... (if you aren't counting all the posts that WOULD have happened this weekend).

Very sorry for the downtime... perhaps it was a sign... you should've all been in Sonoma with us! :-)

Ok, so the problem went deeper than originally anticipated. I'll always preach about having good backups. In this case, they were certainly needed. I had to do a full operating system restore. Again, no data or posts were lost.... but I have some clean up work to do this weekend. So there may be some planned downtime, but I will try to give some notice.

We are back up again, and I'm not going to touch it further for a little while.

Backups are good. I learned that this year when one of my hard drives croaked.

What's really interesting... is the Google logs show 3 page views on Sunday.... It was down the entire 24 hours of that day. Must've been cached pages. *shrug*

Overall however, since the beginning of the new year, page views are up about 20 to 25% !! Today was a whopper at over 50%. I'm glad everyone came back after that unfortunate downtime.

I've since given my brother a key to the house so he can come over and reboot the server when I'm away.

What the heck were you thinking leaving the server alone. Next time you should hire a sitter when you are away. This is our life you know

You're the last one who should be complaining. You were a whole hour away from the "live" forum.
