| Not to be a jerk or anything, but...
Lately I have noticed members posting the exact same thread on more than one Forum website. I know people are free to post where they like, but is there a reason for duplicate posts?
Just curious... | | |

| The only duplicates I am aware that I have posted are tasting notes. I believe there are interested parties on both forums.
I don't really have a problem with people asking what are two separate groups of regular posters for advice either.

| mr null, what do you mean? even with significant overlap, we are talking about 2 different groups. besides, copy & paste makes it so easy. (i'm sorry, brent, i just had to .) | | | |

| GA: I have no problem with people asking a question and posting it twice or even tasting notes. But what I think is "filler" is to post on both boards just to post. Not to pick on Board-O or gfleener, but either one of their stories could have posted to one board with a link to the other if they wanted broader coverage. The stories are both good and Board-O's is quite humorous, but not necessary on 2 boards, IMHO. | | | |

| Brent, I'm guilty as charged. I copied & pasted my "Napa/Sonoma Appointments?" post to the WS site. I'll be there in February and I'm simply hoping to get as much feedback as possible as I try to plan the small amount of free time we have to visit wineries. | | | |

| kimber: I think you have a valid reason to post twice. You have a question that will be better answered by a broader audience. | | | |

| I think you should consider the fact that some people rarely visit or post on both boards. If you choose one over the other, you will not have as broad of an audience.
If I chose to post only to the WS site, I know I would not receive a response from several of the regulars on this forum. Likewise if I were to post here.
I often see duplicate posts on WS and the Stepford forum as well.
I just don't see it as being a big issue.

| GA: I guess where I am coming from is that I believe people from both boards visit the other and often. I see nothing wrong with posting a question or a post that requires some type of response back on both boards. What I don't like is just a general info post on both boards. I am not trying to be a jerk. I just feel that if you are going to post a story that has no real need for multiple responses, why does it need to be on both boards?
For example: Eric's BAWE post I feel is the perfect post for BOTH boards. Informative and explanatory. gfleener's post (please don't hate me, Gus) while enjoyable to read, does not belong on both boards. It is a post with no need for response.
I am not trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill nor am I trying to be an a$$hole. I just think people need to decide whether their post is relevant for more than one board.

| brent, no hatred here. i am, however guilty as charged; i'm just not convinced it is a legitimate offense. it's cold, gray & wet & business is slllooow & i'm bored. if what i have done is a forum felony, then i throw myself upon the mercy of the court & plead ignorance, or insanity, whatever will work the best. | | | |

| Guilty as charged here also. I consider them different groups. Many folks on WS don't participate here, and likewise many folks here don't participate there. The same can be said for the Squires board. I value the input for folks and various boards, so why not post in more than one place? Furthermore, if I see a thread that I've already read in one forum it's easy enough for me to skip over it in another, or if I'm interested in the comments, just scroll past the initial post that I've aleady read. No biggie. | | | 2008: the end of an error | |
