| A couple of things
Threads from the old forums no longer have an icon, they show up as book.gif. Probably a quick fix.
Also we should be able to choose how many topics show up on any given page - 10, 35, 50 , all. Right now it looks like only about 15 show up. Too much clicking... | | | |

| I'm generally pretty indifferent to most of the nuances of forum software, but my initial reaction to this upgrade is irritation that the AJAX-for-AJAX's-sake behavior of search has now been migrated to regular forum listings. If I'm reading older posts, and I'm on, say, page three of the listings, and I read a thread, and hit the Back button... I go back to page one, because the browser doesn't remember the AJAX updates to the page state. Ditto if I use the link to the forum.

It is an equal opportunity interface! I haven't tried subscribing to threads yet. I am sure that would work. I just wanted regular emails from friends and enemies.

Yes, as you mention you can turn off AJAX in your profile, but I'd disagree it's using AJAX for AJAX's sake.
AJAX prevents the entire page from reloading, so the payload over the internet is much smaller. For people with large broadband connections, perhaps that's not a worry... for people with slower connections, perhaps it will help more. That's why it's an option in the "My Profile" section. | | | |

Those aren't for email addresses... those are for your Instant Messaging usernames... (which may very well be an email address, but again, it's still just a username so people can find you on the Instant Message systems) | | | |
