I think it is neat to have the choice between the two, however, I find that most people in flat mode reply to the MOST RECENT post, not necessarily the specific one the reply to. Doesn't this sort of defeat the purpose of threaded posts? This would get on my nervers if I was a threaded person...

True. But threaded is a pain. Flat seems so much easier to me.
