I am just too quick on the trigger. For some reason, when I send a PM I start with the subject line, then type the body and finally choose the recipient. Unfortunately, I seem to often hit send before that last step. The way the software seems to work, I just get sent to a page that tells me that, in effect, there is no such user.

However, at that point, all my typing seems to have sent to the bit bucket. Anyway that I have tried to get back to the composition page always starts with a blank message. grrrr.

Why didn't the programmer just put up the error message and return me to the filled out form?

It'd be nice if the PM also automatically appended the thread of prior email(s) that you are replying to so that the recipient knows whatthe heck it is that you are replying to, too.

BTW, is there a 'cc' feature for PMs?

Bressler: Here is a fix from a programmer of 10+ years experience (& no hourly charge, I wave my fee): ...choose the name before typing the message.

Bob,

What's the matter ...confused by technology?

Seriously, this is an annoying (and certainly not the only) glitch that a thoughtful programmer would have fixed. What sort of UI testing was done on this prior to rollout?

Cheers, y'all

Even though I've updated the forums before, we are definitely at an old version now. There have been many bugs fixes, feature updates, etc. in later releases. I will plan for the forum upgrades after VC 3.0 is released, which will be sometime soon. I'm almost finished.

Ah, LCC, I can tell that you have not yet experienced 'Career Limiting Move #7' - you know the one - you start typing in an email but it has so much stuff in it and you get so carried away that it isn't until you hit the send button that you remember that your boss is CCed.

After you do that once, you learn to fill in the recipient field last.

It gets even worse when you have a Blackberry device and you can send emails really easily from the palm of your hand. I once forwared (I thought) a message to my direct boss and I did not realize that I had added the original sender (the president of the company) to the list instead (the two names were right next to each other in my address book. I was commenting on my direct boss' and my personal opinion of how the president's response was typical of what we'd expect of him (his reaction to an issue).
