I've given what I could to the Forums developer to improve search, and the "Wine Links" page is done... so I'm putting my energy towards new things on VinoCellar.

I'm starting with the "Wine Geography" database... which for me, is turning into a full "101" style of course as soon as I get out of the United States....  ok, honestly, even within the United States I hadn't realized there were so many AVAs I hadn't drank a wine from yet.  *shrug*

This Wine Geography database is a stepping stone into many other things....   but I think I'll "step into" the Restaurant listings first.   The unique thing will be the ability to search on restaurants by wine region..  so Restaurants in all of the North Coast AVA, or just in the Napa AVA or Sonoma AVA, if you like.   They'll certainly be searchable by City as well of course, and other "Geographic Regions" such as NYC Metro Area (which includes many zipcodes in NY/NJ/CT.

So I think that's my next cool little project.

Thoughts and constructive comments always welcome.

Making good progress.... "Country" is done... "Region" is 90% there... and lots of code reuse for "Appellations". I'm happy with the speed this is coming together. Might be able to start on the restaurant specifics fairly soon.

Programming for Sub-Appellations is interesting... especially when not everyone has them. Found a strategy that'll work extremely well however... Coming along nicely still. Getting excited for some fun things soon... and "web 2.0" like social features.

Just about done with this... then I'll be onto inputting all the different countries/regions/appellations/etc.
Then I can use that location data for lots of things to come.. first being the BYOW Restaurant Listings as I think I mentioned before.

I'm done with the Geography "module" which will now allow me to enter all the Country > Region > Appellation > Sub-Appellation information across the world. I believe I have over 1100+ to enter.. but look forward to getting all that data into the DB... it'll be useful for so many things. I'll also be importing a DB of every zipcode/city/county/state relationship in the US. This I've already done in test.. very easy. That also includes major "metro" regions.... will make some nice search zones for restaurants and other things I create.

Regardless, all is going well... now onto enter the data while I do the restaurant listing module. The fun part. :-)
