I'd love a spot where people can post pics of their individual cellars. I love seeing where/how people store their wines..everything from their dedicated shelf to the ultra custom cellars in mega million dollar homes...

Is there a spot where people can post pics like this that are stored on their hard drives, but not stored on a website?

davidn, you want to get this going. But, after davidn posts a picture of his Cellar, we would not want to embarrass ourselves by posting ours.

I'm not sure what SFBB means. He is saying not on a website.

SFBB, we don't really post pictures on the bulletin board because they slow it down too much. But many of the members do have their pictures oof their cellars on the web.

Mine is available atwww.oralgasmic.com

I'm saying I'd like for people to be able to post pics (.jpg) of their cellar's on this site but as you mention they may take up too much space and slow things down. I have digital pics of mine on my hard-drive, and I love to see others cellars to associate with names I recognize here but short of emailing to individual people or creating a website like David, there doesn't seem to be a place for it.

BTW David,
that is one nice cellar; if mine was that nice I'd probably put a bed down there and never come out.

I have nothing to brag about. Yet. Just a bunch of old frigs, wine styro boxes, split up between my parents' basement & my brother's cellar. Still looking to buy that unattainable house. 4 years & counting...

lcc...
didn't mean to imply that the pics would be for bragging purposes...everyone on this board has a passion for wine and while few can attain a cellar like David's, everyone needs a place to put their "treasures" and it can be real fun to see how creative people get.

I don't think I could fit a camera inside of mine.
Just go to the Wine Enthusiast magazine or website,
look up the 900 bottle 'wine room', then imagine it to
be about 3/4 full of good to great stuff!

SFbaybum: I was joking. I guess the joke did not work. Sorry.

Pretty hard to take a picture of mine. The left wall has around 288 slots that are designed to be earthquake proof (lip in front). It also has a display row where the bottles are facing you and there is a rope light to enhance the appearance. The far wall has stacks of wood crates up to 4.15'H. The right side has cheap bulk storage racks that can store around 12 bottles per section. Both racks go floor to ceiling (I think it is 8'h). The middle had 40 cases of wine - now it is down to around 15. Because of the wine in the middle, you cannot see the racks on the sides.

Davidn,
You Californians have got to harden up!!!

My home storage is a 500 bottle cellar unit- and I'm moving soon and it won't fit in the new place so..... the wine there goes into storage as well. At least where I have storage is temp controlled and designed for wine... but still it isn't exactly a cellar of any description. My original wine cellar in the shop was destroyed after vandals and water flooding last year.... , and it was really nice with wood paneling and wrought iron gates and a oak ten seat table and ...and ...and.... )

I will admit I am amazed that people want to stay inside the cellar and drink. We designed an oval table (bar height) for a work place to open bottles, etc. It turns out everyone gathers around this table for chit chat. I had to go buy stools to put around it. Nobody ever says anything about the temp. Of course all we are doing is pouring anti-freeze through our bodies.

Thats Cool!

Davidn,
Its presently 13 degrees celsius ( I think thats about 51 degree farenheit)in my shop right now- no air conditioning. People often come in for a glass of wine to chat. You're right maybe there is something in this anti-freeze theory.

That is my offsite storage facility. I probably should have linked to the actual wine storage page..... The current configuration of my house isn't real good for wine storage. No basement (crawl space only) and my wife won't let me take out the main floor guest bathroom. I might build something in the garage, but I haven't decided if I really have room yet.

Offsite storage has one major benefit... No late night cellar raiding that might result in drinking stuff that's not ready.
