Like an "Event TNs" forum?

i.e. Post your TNs here from Offlines, events, trade tastings, etc.

So let's theorize for a second....

What if I had a Tasting notes database in which all TNs were posted into the database, and each wine had it's own thread in the forums in which the TN was automatically added (so regular discussion could also continue)

How then should the Tasting Notes forums be set up?

I think you would still want some buckets (US/Other) even with a database. For interest levels. This is also based on the fact that search actually works. The current search just doesn't work well or easily.

It's called CellarTracker!

WIML,

A great place also... and I do use it often.

But as Shannon says... there is not much human interaction (understatement)

I agree...You still need buckets to categorize for forum discussion.

yep, exactly that Brad. I often post notes from offlines and such were we drink multiple wines, often crossing over multiple areas here. It is extremely tedious posting these notes on VC. For each wine you must first do a search to find an exisiting thread, then either add your note to that thread or post a new thread if none exists. But even then the note stands on it's own, out of context of the tasting, which kinda sucks too unless you go to the even more tedious task of posting a summary thread in, say, the offlines section and then linking to each of the individual tasting notes. As you know I've done this quite a bit in the past, and while the results are terrific it is quite difficult, and more and more I just find myself less inclined to do so.

From a reading perspective, I like to read about these events and the wines in context, that gives the event life to the reader.

If I understand this correctly there will be a tasting note in "Event's TNs" that wouldn't appear in the regular TN thread under its name.

Perhaps a note in the regular TN thread could indicate that there is a tasting note in "Event's TNs" for the wine.

Ok. So the CMSTA is not an option. That's fine but here is my problem:

When a mailer comes out and it states I have a cetain time frame for purchasing my allocation, I am reluctant to throw hundreds of dollars out there for something I have no clue about and haven't had the opportunity to try.
Sadly, I know now, that if I don't take that immediate opportunity some really great stuff gets away and there is no "second chance".
Most of you have exquisite palates and many have had a chance to taste different pre-releases and can offer some TN's regarding those.
A thread, wherever is deemed appropriate, addressing pre-lease/barrel /et.al. tastings would surely be a benefit to those of us in "Wine 101" that nervously tap our feet at the deadlines we are given.
In the mean time, I love you just the way you are, VC.
I'll just keep up the the good old search option and continue to lurk and read the TN's and hope to find what I want.

But spell check and grammar police would be an added plus especially since the font when replying to a post isso small!!!!
