| I'm sure this has been asked before, but how (if at all) do the administrators receive financial support for this site? I've never seen any advertisements and there doesn't appear to be any sponsorship. I guess this is an inarticulate way of asking if there is anything I can do to help support this site? I feel like a complete free loader. | | |

| Mike, You freeloading bastard, you! Pay up. NOW! While you're at it, would you please put in a few bucks for me, too? Not that you asked, but I remember a few years ago when Revlis, ojeffso, Armmar (where the heck is he, anyway ) and I were out in Seattle two years ago for the big WineSpectator.com blowout. Rev sez "I'm going to be starting a new wine board" and I sez "Oh yeah? , wondering why the heck he'd bother with such a silly idea. It turned out to be anything but silly. Welcome to Revlis' little project, what we now know as VinoCellar. It's been an independent, unbiased freebie site, but many of us have asked Revlis how we can help him. He's declined any such assistance thusfar, but i'm sure that he has plans to someday get some money out of this site. Somehow. By the way, I was happy to be the first non-founding person (and here, I consider Jones to be one of the founders of this site to justify my position) invited to join this little party, and I've been hangin' here ever since. Enjoy your stay! | | | Cheers, y'all | |

| Yes, stemor is correct. This post is best directed towards Revlis. He is on vacation the next 2 weeks, but when he comes back he can address it, MikeW. | | | |

| Well, you aren't the first person to ask, but it's greatly appreciated that you have. I have finally sucked up my pride and have created a donation button (using paypal) on the main page of the site. Any support is GREATLY appreciated and everything donated will go exclusively towards Vinocellar.com, including helping with costs, new hardware, software, and improving vinocellar.com features and your overall experience.
Thanks for any and all support! | | | If you drink wine, you get smarter....

| Gary, based on some donations received, it's working out to about $0.06 a post. :-) That'd be more than fine for me.. hahaha.

| Rev (or anybody else),
Have you thought about putting out a "suggested" donation? | | | Joe-----Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone.

| Firstly, nothing is expected. Your suggest has also been suggested before, but I always thought it was a personal thing.. how much you want to contribute to the betterment of Vinocellar. However, most people seem to do $20 or $50, and as high as $100 so far, but I feel weird saying that. I'm not using donations for personal purposes, and am using everything to procure new hardware, software, etc... But I am however thinking those who do donate before I put a monthly charge onto things.... (what's free now remains free), will get discounts in the future... no specifics yet, but rest assured your donations will be remembered.
If you want an idea of my costs... It used to be about $500/month for the business quality t-1 line, but I've gotten that down to $300/month through other business I'm doing... and then it's really just electricity for the servers.
The best donation so far has been a 1u "pizza box" dual cpu server that the new version of Vinocellar will be running on (integrated forums, wine db, personal cellar db, etc.... all that stuff VC was originally created for). | | | If you drink wine, you get smarter....

| Yea, that east coast dinner really looks awesome... but this is my first trip to the west coast wine country!!! Can you believe it? lol.
Dollar amount? $350.00 plus $20.00 on the google ads. So.... it'll take care of a month of inet access, plus the DAL Builder Pro (code generator) I bought. | | | If you drink wine, you get smarter....
