| A "Pacific Northwest" forum might be more apt.
You can't have a separate forum for each wine producing state in the US! You'd have ... uh... anyone know how many states make wine? I'd guess about 45.

| Dang, I didn't notice - the system truncated my poll question, it should have concluded with "into a single pacific northwest section" | | | 2008: the end of an error | |

| I didn't read the other thread and dont intend to, but WA and OR should each have their own forum. Their wines are very different even though the states border each other. WA produces damn little decent PN or Chardonnay, and the same can be said for the other red varietals from OR. I find very little similarity between these two states's wines. | | | |

| Actually, all 50 states now have bonded wineries. Using Board-O's logic, shouldn't Germany and Spain also have THEIR own topics? I don't know if this subject has been covered before, but it seems to make sense ... | | | Cheers, y'all | |

| Either that or France, Germany, Spain, and Portugal should be combined into one. | | | |

| This may seem strange, but I voted to combine them. As time goes on, more and more wineries in both states are buying grapes from the other. For example, Sineann makes many wines from Oregon grapes, but also makes wines from Washington. Where do you put the TNs?
In addition, there are several appellations that actual cross over the border - Walla Walla and Columbia Valley. So a wine could contain grapes from both states. Where should those TNs go? I've talked to a number of winemakers who are planning new vineyards in the Columbia Gorge region - on both sides of the border. They view this as an area with tremenous potential for Rhone varietals and Riesling. I think that the interplay between the two states will grow as time goes on. Especially when the current volume is considered, I think that a combined Northwest TN section probably makes sense. | | | Heater Allen Brewing - www.heaterallen.com

| I do not think they should be combined into one. They are obviously bordering sates (if you look at a map) but so is California and if we are going to blur them together (and obviously not being Californiacentric) we should probably have West Coast USA red and white sections. I have recently tried many WA reds and have been very impressed with their quality! With so many producers in so many states and areas I believe it would create a lot of undue back and forth of "where's that wine from" or more work for the poster to include all necessary details instead of just going to the specific section (eg/Washington TN's). I don't think it can hurt to keep the current sections as for those that don't care do not visit these sections (WA or OR wines) but it has been nice going to the WA parts as I was trying to find out about the wines I could guage who knew about them (eg/ Queenofhearts, etc.). It looks like my side is losing from the poll as of now but if there are warm blooded Americans with the will to keep state independance and individualism alive then you know which way to vote (now for some voting on the state shipping laws) | | | |
